On Friday, we had our Victory Assembly where the Top Crocs and Leaders of the Month were announced. Congratulations to all who were recognized for living the 7 Habits. Progress on our two WIGS were also revealed. Crocs are doing well with earning Croc Claws. All Crocs need to continue reading every night so that you can earn tickets for our fun Reading Carnival.


Mrs. Jensen’s 1st Grade Class is all smiles. They won back the Spirit Day Trophy this week. Congratulations!

Mrs. Darrington’s chair is trending! This time, it’s a 3rd Grader buying the Principal’s chair for a day. Must be a pretty comfortable way to spend the day at school.

Those 2nd Graders think Mrs. Darrington’s chair is the best investment! Two more 2nd Graders trade in their Croc Cash for the use of the Principal’s chair for a day! Who wouldn’t like to study in comfort?

Kindergarteners have been learning about Christopher Columbus and how he sailed from Spain to North America in 1492. They had fun building their own ships out of tin foil and testing them to see how well they could float.




Math March Madness, our annual Multiplication Contest is coming up. Are you practicing? For those of you who are in 3rd Grade or new to Cherry Creek, 3rd Graders, 4th Graders and 5th Graders participate in a multiplication competition fashioned after the collegiate basketball championships. Each grade takes a timed multiplication test to find the 16 fastest and most accurate students by grade level. Those 16 take another test to determine the Elite 8. The Elite 8 are take another test to determine the Final Four. At the March Victory assembly, the winners of the grade level competition are recognized with a Math Medal, a King sized candy bar and get to walk the victory lap. Who will find themselves on the top of the Leader board?

The Lost & Found is Growing Coats and more. Winter weather has finally come and our Lost & Found is growing by the day. Parents, do you recognize any of these coats? Please have your child come by the Lost and Found table and collect their items. These coats are keeping the tables warm!



1st Grade continues to show that they have Spirit! This week, Mrs. Golding’s 1st Grade class takes the trophy back. Congratulations!

A 2nd Grader in Ms. Christensen’s class made the Impossible Shot. Congratulations! Those 2nd Graders must have the magic touch!

We had a 3 way tie for Spirit Day. This week, Mrs. Jensen’s 1st Grade class, Ms. Christensen’s 2nd Grade class and Ms. Beeson’s 2nd Grade class won the Spirit Day trophies. Congratulations!

Twinning with the Principal is fun. Finding more friends dressed alike is even more of a surprise. Wild Wednesdays at Cherry Creek is the best!

Mrs. Jensen’s 1st Grade class has been learning about the history of the earth in knowledge and this week we’ve been talking about what the earth is made of. We made yummy pudding cups to represent the inner core, outer core, mantle, & crust.

The 1st Graders went on a field trip to the Scera Theater. They got to see the production: A Peter Rabbit Tale. Looks like they had fun on the bus ride and watching the performance!

1st Grade continues to show their school spirit! Mrs. Golding’s class and Mrs. Jensen’s class both won the spirit day trophy this week. Any other classes want to give them some competition? Who else has school spirit?

The 5th Graders have been perfecting their keyboarding skills. Recently, they had a competition to see who was the fastest and most accurate. Here are the winners from 5th Grade. The student holding the Golden Keyboard was the fastest 5th Grader at Cherry Creek and she will be moving on to the district competition. Congratulations!

Last week, the 5th Graders went on a field trip to visit the Capitol Building. Here they learned about Utah State Capitol history and architecture, Utah history, and government processes. They were fortunate that the Utah Representatives were in session and were able to meet with Representative Whyte.


On Friday, we had our January Victory assembly. Top Crocs and Leaders of the Month were announced. Mrs. Truscott was recognized as Cherry Creek’s Teacher of the Year. The winners of the Kindness Poster competition were chosen. Progress for our 2 Wildly Important Goals were discussed. Mrs. Darrington challenged all Crocs to do their nightly reading so that we can achieve our Reading WIG and have a skate party.



What a way to start off the new week in comfort! Another 2nd Grader saved enough Croc Cash to buy Mrs. Darrington’s chair for the day.

The 2nd Graders celebrated the 101st Day of School with Dalmatian Day. And on the 102nd Day of School, they wondered how it would be like to be 102.
